INTRODUCTIONWhen a paper program just isn't enough
What happens when developers team up with festival organizers? The result is App4Event – our first product at Ackee and an event app born out of our love for culture. We set out to create a tool that would simplify organizers’ work and enhance the experience for attendees. Although we eventually shifted towards custom software development, this passion project stayed with us – and today it supports dozens of successful events and tens of thousands of happy users.
CHALLENGEOne app to fit every event
How do you build a system flexible enough to suit various types of events while remaining efficient and sustainable? The key was to find a balance between customization and efficient operation. The app needed to accommodate the specific needs of individual organizers while running as a unified product under the hood. A critical part of the solution was designing a process where each new app could be launched without manual developer input – ideally within just a few days.

App4Event is powered by a technical solution that enables the deployment of multiple custom-designed and content-rich apps from a single codebase. We handle the development, testing, and automated deployment, while organizers manage content, schedules, and visuals via a simple admin interface. Each app appears and operates as a standalone product but is built on a reliable, shared foundation – saving time, reducing costs, and simplifying event organization for both small and large-scale events.
IN PRACTICEBringing the event experience to life
Unlike traditional printed programs, App4Event enables real-time communication with attendees through push notifications. Schedules, artist lineups, maps, search features, and the ability to bookmark and share favorite events with friends make it easy to navigate and enjoy the event together. The app has enhanced the experience for tens of thousands of attendees at festivals like Mighty Sounds and Colours of Ostrava, where more than 30,000 users downloaded the app.
The App4Event app served as a fantastic guide for visitors at the Mighty Sounds festival. We especially valued the ability to reach all attendees at any time via push notifications, which worked flawlessly despite the overloaded mobile network.
